”Working as an annoncer and singer for radio and TV I´ve become quite decent at copying and creating voices. When I don´t sing my own material I let my employers tell me what voice they want, like ”fragile 16 year old girl” or ”big mature black woman”, and I can give them that voice. It´s an honour that people I work with think I credibly can portray different moods and characters. I do my best and like any actor I find it´s often more fun to be someone else anyway. My own singing has also matured from these quests to create new ways of expression. I find that the more I connect my heart to the vocalchords, the better it sounds. I can wail and belt over a big range, but if I don´t beleive in my heart what I sing, the song doesn´t touch the listener. Therefore, when singing the important thing to me isn´t if I sound great, but if I sound beleivable.” |
